McNabb Microfarm: Keep your skin soft and moisturized from the inside out

McNabb Microfarm: Keep your skin soft and moisturized from the inside out

We’ve all heard the phrase, “you are what you eat”, and if you're aiming for glowing skin and a radiant complexion, I'm sure this phrase will become truth. There are many natural and organic foods that you should be consuming to achieve a flawless look, but before you start counting macros, let's talk about the micros. Miniature powerhouses that pack a nutritional punch and can be a game-changer for your health and beauty routine, microgreens are the tiny greens with huge benefits.

If you're anything like me, I love to support local businesses, especially when it comes to my food. Freshness and nutritional value rank high on my list so I visit the Art Center every Wednesday here in Corpus Christi TX, to check out the Grow Local Farmers Market.
Fun fact, produce at your local farmers markets is often harvested at peak ripeness and sold shortly after, retaining more nutrients and better flavor compared to produce that has traveled long distances.

In support, the wife always tries to come home with something different and on this Wednesday, let's say dinner was a bit light. First off, she knew I was mad hungry before she left downtown. Second of all, she had this little ass box of plants that looked like she just picked from the backyard talking about some dinners ready.

I ate.

I was just mad that the sound of crunching those plants didn't drown out the stomach pains or the yip yap she was talking about while we were eating. Of course, she called me on my shit and asked, “ARE YOU EVEN LISTENING”?... then “WHAT I SAY” ...that's when I began to regurgitate something about farmers markets featuring seasonal produce, encouraging a diet that aligns with natural growing cycles, which can be more nutritionally diverse and balanced.
WHATEVER...

AS I WAS SAYING...

“I met Ryan and Lauren McNabb! Owners of McNabb MicroFarm. I know you've been wanting to eat healthier, and I figured you would like these. Microgreens are young vegetable greens that are harvested just after the first true leaves develop. Despite their small size, they are packed with flavor and nutrients. Studies have shown that micro greens contain up to 40 times more nutrients than their mature counterparts. They are rich in vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, making them a superfood in every sense.”

“What's for dinner”?

SLAP***

I'm joking...Thanks babe.

"I love supporting all things local, and having cosmetic and skin care locally-made is amazing! I love the skin souffle and use it as my daily moisturizer/SPF. It's so clean with a light fresh scent. We also love the sugar scrub cubes! So convenient. Highly recommend any of the products." - Lauren McNabb

As you can see, we share local sentiments! Lauren also believes "Beauty starts from the inside out,". Her radiant skin is a testament to the benefits of a diet rich in microgreens. Lauren's daily routine includes a generous serving of sunflower microgreens, which she incorporates into salads, smoothies, and even as a garnish on her favorite dishes.

But her beauty regimen doesn’t stop at nutrition. Every Wednesday, Lauren heads to the Grow Local Farmers Market at the Art Center in downtown Corpus Christi. Here, not only does she sell Microgreens, but she also picks up her favorite facial moisturizer from Lemon Box Beauty,

"It's the perfect complement to my diet. I nourish my skin from the inside with microgreens and keep it hydrated and glowing on the outside with Lemon Box Beauty’s moisturizer."

Among the various types of microgreens, sunflower microgreens stand out, especially when it comes to skin health. These tiny greens are a powerhouse of vitamins A, B, C, D, and E, essential fatty acids, and a plethora of minerals like zinc and magnesium.

Known for its antioxidant properties, vitamin E helps combat free radicals that cause premature aging and skin damage. Including sunflower microgreens in your diet can lead to healthier, more youthful-looking skin.

Essential Fatty Acids are vital for maintaining the skin's barrier function, which keeps it hydrated and plump. Sunflower microgreens are an excellent source, helping to keep your skin soft and moisturized from the inside out.

The high chlorophyll content in sunflower micro greens aids in detoxifying the body, leading to clearer skin. It helps flush out toxins that can cause acne and other skin issues.

Sunflower Microgreens- They literally taste like sunflower seeds

Whether you’re looking to improve your skin health, boost your overall nutrition, or simply add some vibrant flavors to your meals, microgreens are the way to go. And if you’re in Corpus Christi, don’t miss the chance to visit McNabb MicroFarm and meet Ryan and Lauren in person. Their passion is infectious, and their greens are, quite literally, the cream of the crop.
